A set of 3 metropolitan area maps acquired in an estate sale lot speaks to a run of years (late-1970s through the mid-1980s) when the city’s rapid expansion, especially in relation to the city’s highway system and suburbs, hit its stride. But this became all the more fascinating when we acquired a much earlier Sinclair Gas Station map that shows Atlanta’s roadway system before any of the modern freeways had arrived, the city’s scope so modest when compared to just a few decades later!
