Ghosts.

Previously presented in two separate volumes published in 1989 and 1996, this omnibus edition of true ghostly encounters combines stories recorded by Holzer from the New York and New England regions of the United States. Holzer himself was Austrian-American, born in Vienna in 1920, but relocated to America in his late teens as his Jewish family fled Nazi persecution. A victim of human-induced terror, the young Hans grew fascinated with parapsychology and the stories told by people who had been moved by experiences involving non-corporeal entities. An avid collector of such tales, he made a career and an eventual name for himself as an author and ghost hunter. Before publishing the two books which came to comprise this one, Holzer already could claim a literal library of works, and he went on writing practically up until his death in 2009. As a supernatural investigator, he joined up with well-known trance mediums to dig into some of the most prominent cases of hauntings in the world, including the 1970s “Amityville Horror” phenomenon, which took place in a Long Island, New York, neighborhood. The accounts here in “Ghosts of New England” come from that same general region, covering an area from rural Maine to Boston to back into New York state. In his preface to these 32 reprinted accounts, Professor Holzer (he claimed a PhD in his field) wrote: “The ghostly encounters I have presented here are all cases I have personally looked into and investigated. I am satisfied that they are true cases of life beyond physical death.” [Condition: In very good condition overall, just some slight discoloration of the page ends.]
