Hiking Guide, National Parks Travel.

A nice slim volume put out in 1978, “Hiker’s Guide to Glacier” is filled with black & white photo inserts and trail guidance via topography maps. The Highline and Swiftcurrent Lookout have been highlighted by the original owners of the book, which we like to think represented "trails they had trod" throughout the amazing Glacier National Park in northern Montana. Authored by husband and wife duo, Richard & Sharon Nelson, they introduce the book with this enticing invitation to the American hiker: “Glacier National Park is not only one of the finest for viewing scenery and wildlife but also one of the most rewarding to hike. Scenery this beautiful when viewed from the road can only be better when explored on foot” … Along with a number of other trail guides and maps, this volume was purchased at the estate sale of a couple who had actually met (probably in the 1960s) while hiking, married, and went on to pursue their love of hiking together all across the continent. There is also a great USDA / NPS fold-out pamphlet in the book educating—and cautioning—visitors about grizzly bears. [Condition: Used Good — There is a smoothed-out bend in the right bottom corner of the cover, plus bending due to it probably having been leaning on a shelf for many years. But aside from slight cover wearing, the interior is in great shape aside from the few pencil and highlight markings mentioned.]
