ATLANTIC SOUTH.
Home Decor / Kitchen Decor, Decorative Plate, Souvenir, c. 1940s.
This South Carolina decorative plate with historical scenes was made by California company Vernon Kilns and has printed designs in soft color. In excellent shape, it lists as a retired piece and is sure to be appreciated by dishware collectors whether or not they identify as swamp staters. All around the edge of the plate is state flower Carolina Yellow Jasmine, although in this instance it presents as one of the only elements not colored in. Taking center stage is The State House in Columbia, South Carolina’s capital. Above this is The Mulberry On Cooper River, a plantation home constructed in 1714. Going clockwise, the next site is St. David’s Church, established in 1773 in Cheraw, South Carolina. Then dating from 1820 in Greenville County, SC, is the Poinsett Bridge. The 1760 Oconee Station Guardhouse anchors the bottom of the design. Going up the left side we come to Walterboro Courthouse which was founded in 1820. The Card House, an antebellum home in Bluffton, rounds out this ceramic tour of South Carolina’s historical scenes.
