Fashioned out of marble quarried in the United States, this finely detailed piece depicting one of the hallmark memorials of our nation’s capital would surely add a presidential touch to any collection. A little online sleuthing on our part dug up the phrase Bonded Marble in relation to the manufacturing of this item and other District of Columbia souvenirs like it. At minimum, it would describe the process used to form marble dust into a suitable material for casting. And it could also be the name of the business that modeled its product line on this process (though the back of this item is the copyright for a CEI). There is a Bonded Marble White House, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, and United States Capitol as well, which along with the tiny Jefferson Memorial offered here comprise a nifty five piece set. So gather these replicas because DC’s historic structures hold a particularly special meaning for you, or because they are novel and well-made, or both.
