North Dakota Ceramic Souvenir Bell With State Emblems And Sites

Literally a ringing endorsement for the great state of North Dakota, this china bell would look wonderful in anyone’s collection. Historic locations pictured on its transferware montage are the State Capitol building in Bismarck, Chateau de Mores in Billings County, and a rock cairn marking the Geographical Center of North America. The monument is in Rugby, ND, a city about 45 miles south of the Canadian border. And while there has been some controversy whether or not this obelisk sits at the actual center of the North American continent, Pierce County enjoys the visitors it brings. The emblems shown for the Peace Garden State are the bison as its official animal, the wild prairie rose as its official flower, and meadow lark as its official bird. (It is technically the western meadowlark, but let us not be picky.) This bell not only is a looker, it also makes a lovely soft tink when rung. Inside where the clapper is a gold sticker provides its origin story. Made in Korea, this item was a product of California’s Karol Western Souvenir Corporation. Based in Los Angeles, its website says it has been partnering with destination merchandisers for over fifty years. We hope they can ring in another fifty. [Condition: Used Very Good.
