MID-ATLANTIC.
Home Decor, Ceramic Souvenir Piggy Bank, c. 1970s.

Maryland my Maryland piggy bank with the state bird and flower! Classic white ceramic pig saves up your coins while celebrating the Free State. Where does that nickname come from? It was given by a Baltimore newspaper in the 1920s when residents wanted to be free from Prohibition. Featured on piggy’s side is the colorful image of a Baltimore Oriole perched on a black-eyed Susan, official symbols of the Old Line State. Where does that nickname come from? From the regular troops of the Maryland Line, who took up arms in the Revolutionary War and served courageously in the battle for American independence. Now you can store away knowledge of the Chesapeake Bay State for future use in a trivia match while stockpiling change in your Little America themed porcelain porcine penny preserver. And you won’t need to break the bank in order to count your coin collection as this pig is open on the bottom. In fact the stopper went missing somewhere along the old line. Replacing it before stashing cash is our stated recommendation.
