Who better than this owl to add a touch of whimsy to any bell collector’s shelf? He’s roosted here on a Texas-themed souvenir, so bonus points should said collector be fond of the Lone Star State. Made in Japan, this ceramic bell and all the rest of its parliament (the collective noun for owls) was made for the tourist trade, serving as a vehicle for different attractions to imprint their promotional imagery and sell in gift shops. Explains why a piece which touts the Texas state flower, the bluebonnet, and state bird, the mockingbird, features an owl with what looks like posies. The bell itself is a beautiful example of its kind. It rings softly with an intact clapper. The colors are unfaded, with only the transferware of the word ‘bluebonnet’ showing wear.
