MID-ATLANTIC.
Wood "Stash" Trinket Box, Souvenir, c. 1950s - 1960s.

On the lid of this handsome cedar box is a painted depiction of the waterfalls found in one of scenic West Virginia's most photographed spots. Located in the Allegheny Mountains area of Tucker County, this namesake water feature of Blackwater Falls State Park is tinted by tannic acid from fallen hemlock and red spruce needles. It cascades 57 feet and can be viewed from provided platforms. The nearby town of Davis, WV, proudly displays an image of Blackwater Falls on its official seal, and it makes a great stopover for touring local state sites and also the Monongahela National Forest. This cedar trinket box would have been a classic souvenir of a visit to the region - and bonus points that the lid features the falls. Very often just the name of the destination appears on these pieces, or if there is an image it is not necessarily specific to the scenic site. So consider picking up this unique memento box to hold your own one-of-a-kind treasures. It is “the” genuine item. [Condition: Used Very Good. A few light scratches and some wear on the edges from age.]
