What first caught our attention looking at the transferware images shown on this Yellowstone National Park ceramic plate was the one titled “Grand Canyon From Artists Point”. And yet the Grand Canyon is entirely in Arizona, more than a 15 hour drive from the tri-state region of Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho that houses Yellowstone. It turns out this is the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, and it’s located deep in northwest Wyoming, just south of Montana’s border and east of Idaho’s. The other six images which this plate features are found in various parts of the park. Central to the design is Old Faithful (so recognizable it wasn’t even captioned), which is located along with other geysers in Wyoming’s Upper Geyser Basin. Morning Glory Pool (aka Spring), Fishing Bridge, Mammoth Hot Spring Terraces, and Yellowstone Lake - the largest high elevation lake in North America - are also in Wyoming. So then is there anything here for Montana and Idaho? Well luckily the designers of this collectible dish included a feature that is not tied to one geographical place. Twin bear cubs could well be seen anywhere in the 3,472 mile park boundary. What a treasure this is, and so worth protecting. Grizzly and black bears in Yellowstone have been under careful management to maintain their population since 1970. [Condition: Used Very Good.
