PACIFIC + SOUTHWEST.
Hiking Guide, National Park Travel.
A slender but very dense volume from the 1970s that is filled with a ton of black & white photos and fine detail on dozens of trails within the greater Yosemite wilderness. Authored by the husband and wife duo, Lew & Ginny Clark, they wrote in additional context by way of expanded write-ups on the landscape, wildlife, trees, and flowers hikers would see as they trod their way through; this alongside intricate color topographicals and elevation maps. The sectional breakdown of trails + sites includes: Yosemite Valley, the Merced River Country, the South Boundary Country (which includes a breakout section on sequoias), the Central High Sierra (an area that includes the very popular John Muir Trail and Tuolumne Meadows), and ending with Yosemite's North Country … Along with a number of other trail guides and maps, this volume was purchased at the estate sale of a couple who had actually met (probably in the 1960s) while hiking, married, and went on to pursue their love of hiking together all across the continent. [Condition: Used Very Good — There is some slight bending on the spine’s top due to it likely being dropped at some point; but aside from other similar imperfections and slight age wear to the cover, the interior is in great shape. Overall, this unique volume was treated very well on a full shelf of like American hiking destinations.]
