MID-ATLANTIC.
Breweriana, Bar Tray, Barware, c. 1960s.

Located in Norristown, Pennsylvania, just northwest of Philadelphia (today considered a borough), The Adam Schieidt Brewing Company originally dated to the 1870s. Having survived prohibition, the brewery grew throughout the mid-century years on the back of its regionally popular lagers, ales, and bock beers—Valley Forge Beer and Ram’s Head Ale being their most popular brands. Known for bold design and advertisements, Scheidt’s would eventually update its name to Valley Forge Brewing in the 1960s before fusing with the larger regional Schimdt’s—another well-known local brand (this being an era before large conglomerate brewing interests and when local / regional brewers were the norm across America). Schmidt’s would continue to brew both the Valley Forge and Ram’s Head brands into the 1980s, even continuing use of the original Scheidt graphic branding. Such an interesting tray in that it depicts this pivotal crossroads in the early history of America using a primitive style, something more akin to early America than the 1960s when this tray was produced. Manufactured with quality by American Can Company, or CANCO, here is a great find with a great southeast Pennsylvania regional story to tell ... Valley Forge Beer can (from the Schmidt’s era, c. 1970s.) included. [Condition: Used Very Good. There are no notable scratches on the front interior illustration, only the usual shelf wear for vintage barware trays on the outer resting edge along its back.]
